Life Lessons: 20 Things I wish I’d known sooner.

  1. Be gentle with yourself: More often than not we suffer because we judge ourselves harshly and don’t easily forgive ourselves for the mistakes we’ve made. Remember, you did the best you could.

  2. Let go: The past is past. Don’t go back. Don’t dwell in the past.

  3. Move on: There are better things ahead. Keep going. It gets better!

  4. Read a lot: It is the best way to expand your world view and imagination. Books are truly the friend that will never let you down.

  5. Write More: It is the best therapy.

  6. Take care of your body: It is going to be with you as long as you live.

  7. Watch what you eat: Moderation is key.

  8. Spend more time in nature: Trees and flowers make everything better.

  9. Slow down: For some time, every day, sit outside and observe, write, listen to music - anything that gives you peace.

  10. Trust yourself: You have all the answers within you. Believe that you deserve the best.

  11. Love yourself. Trust your abilities. Don’t let others manipulate you or pull you down. You don’t need to be a people pleaser. You don’t owe anyone anything. Take a stand for yourself.

  12. Don’t fear anything. Don’t let fear run your life. It is a waste of time.

  13. Don’t compare yourself with anyone. They don’t walk your path.

  14. Accept compliments easily.

  15. Go back to your roots: Explore old Indian food habits, ayurveda, yoga, dincharya - all of the goodness that got lost down the road.

  16. Do breathwork everyday.

  17. Pray and meditate more.

  18. Give more to everyone around you and to worthy causes. Whatever you can.

  19. Spend money on the things, people and causes you love.

  20. Reinvent frequently: You can start afresh whenever you want. Age truly doesn’t matter. Seek new experiences.
