Summer in O’ahu, Hawaii
“Time moves slowly in Hawaii. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it is my vacation mindset, distance from work and responsibilities or the calm vast ocean doing its magic. I’ve slept nearly 10 hours every night that I’ve been here. Even now the mild sea breeze on my face, sounds of the ocean waves and the sparkling city lights (since it is not even dawn yet) put me into a meditative state. My soul and body feel healed, and there is an overwhelming sense of clarity.” - Musing from my morning writing session at Honolulu.
It was a beautiful trip in the summer of 2025. It was my first time there, so we made the most of it and drove around O’ahu, saw everything touristy there is to see but mainly spent time looking awestruck at the ocean. The vastness, the mesmerizing colors that change with the time of the day, the yellow pebble ridden sandy Waikiki, morning beach walks, afternoon swims, watching people surfing the waves from my lanai, admiring the sunrise lighting up the ocean in a variety of hues, looking at the sailing ships moving away into the deceptively calm water.
I booked a 35th floor ocean view room at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa and couldn’t be happier. The views, the food and access to everything around Waikiki was worth the money.
